Save the lost, revive the saved, and train
them all.
What is a Circuit Rider? And how is God going
to use simple acts of obedience to bring massive revival to our nation?
The Circuit
Riders were a group of men in the United States when our nation was in its
infancy. They were known as a crazy bunch of men on fire for Jesus and willing
to do whatever it took to spread his love. Think Jesus Culture and Passion on steroids! They
were not formally educated and held no theological degrees. They traveled by horse
across our country teaching and leading people to Jesus. Some of the earliest
churches in America were established through their obedience and America saw an
outpouring of the Spirit, a time of great awakening.
Flash forward to 2011 at YWAM (Youth
with a Mission) in Kona Hawaii. One of the leaders, a woman named Amy Ward, has
a vision. In her vision a messenger comes to her, dressed in colonial clothes
and says, “The Lord is going to release wild eyed revivalists who are going to
crisscross the nation with a message of revolution leading unto reformation.”
She sees a vision of Paul Revere, and hears the Lord say “Circuit Riders” and
then the vision ends. As with any prophetic encounter the group in Kona tested
it by going to the Word, talking about it with each other and praying and
fasting through it. Believing the vision was of God and that the Lord wanted to
release the Circuit Riders again, they did what YWAM is great at, they organized a
training school. The first installment saw over 300 people travel to Kona.
Hearts on fire they began to express their desire to go to different parts of
the world to share the love of Jesus in hopes of revival, but God had a
different plan. After about three weeks
at the training school over half the participants were having encounters with
God, dreams and visions telling them they were not to go to the nations at that
time but that they were to “turn their eyes to America” that God wanted to do
something in America that would effect the nations; A movement on college
campuses birthing a new generation of Circuit Riders.
So what does
this have to do with me? Lately I have been working on my discipline of prayer.
I have prayed my whole life but never in a disciplined fashion. A great friend
of mine and pastor suggested a book to me called “The Circle Maker” by Mark
Battison. This book is about praying through big prayers, prayers that could
only be answered by the hand of God moving mountains. These are the prayers God
delights in answering because ALL the Glory goes to Him. So I go out a buy a
prayer journal, but what do I write in it? What are the cries of my heart? What
do you want me to do with my talents God? For me the answer was obvious; God
wired me as a creative, passionate, musician, it has always been my destiny. I
have worked in the mortgage industry out of necessity and due to a lack of
faith that the promises He gives us are true.
No more! As He began to reassure my heart that this was what He wanted
me to do, the first things I wrote in my prayer journal were “I want to write the
lyrics of your heart to be used to change lives for your Kingdom” “I want you
to use the talents you have given me to bring a new level of fame to your
name.” I had no idea what this looked like but continued to pray through these
two prayers.
After about
two weeks of praying these prayers and journaling little notes to myself I saw
an Insagram post by a worship leader whom I respect named Sean Feucht. It was a
picture of him and Lindy Conant in Africa and the caption read “ We’re rolling out to the
bush in the plane with a bunch of crazies right now!! Miss @lindycc and
@mamaaidabaker are asking for an entire village to be saved, healed &
freed” This statement had such a resonation in my heart! YES GOD! Bring an
entire village into your loving arms. I
knew who Sean and Heidi Baker were but who was this Lindy Character? I click on
her IG and the first thing I see is www.crmovement.com.
Now if there is one thing that I have learned about His Divine Sovereignty it is
that there are NO coincidences when we are walking out His will for our lives. I
click this link and what I read blows my mind. CR Music Intensive, gateway to
becoming a musician on the Carry the Love Tour 2016: “Over the past several
years we have been shocked by the acceleration of a grassroots movement
across university campuses in America. Students arising with passion in
their hearts to see their campus saved and for Jesus to get all the glory.
In every historic movement there has been a sound that has defined it. A
sound is arising giving language to this rising movement of soul winners”
Could this be the answer to the prayer I have been praying? Could this be how
He is going to start to use me to bring a new level of fame to His name? Is
this sound the lyric of His heart? I’ll apply.
I ask some of my close friends to pray for me; telling them that God
might be answering prayers through this ministry and to pray that He would give me
clarity in the whole situation. I’m 37, I have three kids that are a huge
responsibility, can I really do this? My fiancée Whitney didn’t share the same
optimism but I kept telling her if God opens the door I know He will provide.
One of my pastors reminded me of Abraham. Abraham trusted God so completely
that He was willing to sacrifice his only son Isaac, with full confidence that
God would raise him back to life. God, all along knew that He would provide an
alternative, but wanted to test Abraham's faith. Abraham’s act of obedience has
and will continue to echo through eternity. I receive a call from a girl named
Michaela asking me to lead one of the tour groups, and to fly out to Huntington
Beach, California. I will take this step in obedience and pray that God will
show me whether or not this is what He is calling me to participate in.
My life was forever changed with what I experienced in
California. It was a group of insanely talented musicians, passionately
pursuing excellence for His kingdom, kindred spirits in the most authentic way,
paying their way to come to California and ready to pay their own way on this
tour to share Jesus with the colleges of our Nation. We had three days of
bonding, talking about each others lives, and talking about how each of us have
felt the same thing, THE SPIRIT IS MOVING ACROSS AMERICA AND WE ARE SAYING YES.
We are the new generation of Circuit Riders. We’re gritty,
determined, crazy, and were in great company. My heroes in the Bible were crazy;
Jesus was crazy, everything in the Word is illogical (If your logic is the
logic of men). That’s the beauty of a life in Christ; the beauty of radical
faith, it often seems like insanity when we step into it, but once we take that
initial step God takes over and our faith is brought to unimaginable levels as
we see His promises answered. Get ready America there is a revolution of love
coming, a “Tsunami of revival” as we boldly proclaim the love of Jesus in 2016.
Saving the lost, reviving the saved, and training them all, as we carry the love!
